Modeka: Much more than just a brand name

Motorcycle clothing under the brand name Modeka has long been a household name in Europe. The family company from the small town of Beckum in North Rhine-Westphalia Germany is recently celebrating its 70th birthday.

THE BEGINNINGS:
The story of the family company, in which the third generation of the Oberkönig family is already at the start, began shortly after the Second World War when leather was produced in their own tannery and motorcycle coats were already being produced. The brand name "Belmo" stood for high-quality motorcycle leather suits from Beckum early on in the company's history. But the company did not only focus on business with the end customer. In the small town in the Warendorf district, it was quickly recognized that working with important authorities in the state could be an attractive field of activity and could also offer economic prospects. And so the company soon began to supply the police and the German armed forces with important equipment. Today Modeka International GmbH still produces and delivers a product that has long since become an icon of aviation: the classic gray Bundeswehr aviator jacket with pockets and badges. The jacket is sent wherever Bundeswehr pilots get on their planes: to the United States and many other areas of use for army aircraft.

TODAY:
Leather suits, consistently designed for street and racing sports, marked the cornerstone for the very successful and diverse motorcycle clothing brand Modeka around 30 years ago.
